Christopher Columbus
The ship arrived in Beaver Harbor on August 31st and stayed until 7:00 pm.  Many passengers came ashore for a stroll and a beverage. Passengers from Sweden, Germany and the US were aboard.  [ The Big Picture ]
 

Spring Comes Early
The Emerald Isle will make her first trip of the year (other than the special trip to get a  generator for the Island!) Wednesday March 24.  The next scheduled trip will be April 1.  Spring is here!
 

The old Power Plant once again comes to the rescue...
After a recent cable break, the old Generating Station came to life to supply the Island with power.  When one of the generators broke down, the Emerald Isle made a special winter trip through the ice to retrieve a new one!  [ The Story ]

the Bluebird B & B
Beaver Island's only Bed and Breakfast, the Bluebird is nestled in  the Island's quiet farmland area.  This historical structure, carefully rebuilt to an exacting standard of comfort and quality, was originally built over 120 years ago.

Winter Pictures of the Island
If you want to see what the Island looks like blanketed in snow, Beaver Island.Net,  has some new winter pictures online.  In December, Beaver Island.Net also was awarded ``1998 Northern Michigan Site of the Year" by Northern Michigan Journal. The Beaver Island Dock is now in-service
After a summer of work, the Beaver Island Dock is now in operation allowing the Emerald Isle to dock with ease on the Island. [ More Pictures ]

New Ace Hardware
This 5,000 sq. foot, 2-story building is now offering the Island a great selection of hardware, tools, and supplies.  The building is shown here under construction.

Community House Project
The former Dockside Market has been gutted and the facing removed.  Fundraising is underway.  To the left  is a model of the proposed addition and reconstruction.  The new building will incorporate among many other things, a theater, a multi-use space below, and child care facilities.   [ More ]
 

Museum Week July 17 - 24th
The Beaver Island Historical Society's Annual Museum Week will begin this year with a concert on Saturday, July 17th.
